交換留学って何？-What is Exchange Program?-

　Hello everyone. This is Miyu!  I have been teaching both Japanese and English grammar classes at EIGLOBE since October 2023. I was born and raised here in Hiroshima, so I am a proud resident of Hiroshima Prefecture. My major at college was language and communication, and I love interacting with people and learning from their experiences. 

   During my junior and senior year of college, I flew to Hawaii and studied there for about a year as an exchange student, which is called 交換留学 in Japanese.  I will explain how I chose to study for the exchange program, and how much you need to join the program.

   If you are applying for an exchange program, you will choose from one of your university’s partner schools. You can also choose the length of your stay based on your goals. Short-term programs usually last from about 2 to 4 weeks, while long-term programs last from half a year to one year. Short-term programs mainly focus on language, historical learning and long-term programs focus on cultural learning. You can also understand how it feels to live like a local person.

   One big difference between short-term and long-term programs is that with long-term exchange programs, you can transfer the credits you earn abroad to your university in Japan. No matter when or how long you go, there will be a lot of visa applications and paperwork. So I strongly recommend that you get your professor’s permission and submit the documents as soon as possible!

    みなさん、こんにちは。みゆと申します。私は2023年10月からEIGLOBEで日本語クラスと英文法クラスを担当しています。生まれも育ちも広島の広島県民です。大学での専攻は言語・コミュニケーションで、色んな文化を知ったり多様な価値観を共有したりするのが大好きです。

　学部生時代は、3年生の後期から４年生の前期にかけて交換留学でハワイに１年間滞在しました。今回は留学先の選択過程・留学の費用の２つについて説明します。

　まず、留学先の選択に関して交換留学の場合は提携校の中から行先と期間で自分に合う留学先を選びます。短期の場合は約２週間〜４週間、長期は半年〜１年間の滞在期間です。短期と長期留学の大きな違いとしては、留学先で取得した単位を日本の大学で交換できることです。どの時期にどれくらいの期間留学するにしても、大量のビザ申請や関係書類があるので、教授から許可を得てすぐ書類を提出することを強くお勧めします！

　最後に留学にかかった費用をまとめますので参考にされてくださいね。
