Why I study English 2

By Yukie, Student at EIGLOBE Firstly, I want to say that English can be your “magic key”. English is everywhere, so you will be able to communicate with native speakers and EFL speakers all around the world. You will help others, communicate with a huge variety of people and help yourself unlock all sorts of life’s doors. Did you know that 400 million people around the world speak English as their first language? Not only that, but English is listed as one of the official languages in more than a quarter of the countries in the entire world. What’s more, English is the rest of the world’s second language. Most

Why I study English

By Chihaya, Student at EIGLOBE I’ll write about why I study English. It’s simple. I want to become stronger. My parents like traveling. I grew up hearing their travel stories. So, I was always interested in things overseas since I was a child, and my parents want me to go to many countries. But I’m so shy. When I was a teenager, I used to not talk with classmates or with store clerks. I used to not answer phone calls to avoid talking with someone.  I also didn’t like studying… lol. Back then, I always said, “I can’t speak English. So, I can’t go anywhere yet.” 》 However, I’ve

What is it like for an American to live in Japan?

By Sage Panter from EIGLOBE It doesn’t matter who you are or where you are, living in a foreign country is full of challenges. I am American and I live in Japan. I am going to talk about the challenges I have personally faced since I moved to here. The 1st challenge is… being a foreigner.  America is referred to as a “melting pot” country. A “melting pot” is a pot that has many different ingredients inside that melt together. When a country is called a “melting pot” it means a country with many different types of people inside that live together. So, growing up in America, I was used

What Does It Mean to Be Fluent?

By Sage Panter from EIGLOBE What does it mean to be “fluent” in a language? Throughout my time studying other languages, I’ve given this question a lot of thought. Can a person consider themselves fluent if they pass a certain test? Can a person consider themselves fluent if they can simply communicate effectively with others in the language? Can a person consider themselves fluent if they build a big enough vocabulary? The truth is, no one has a perfect answer. There are many people, and even many language experts, who differ in opinion on what it means to be truly fluent. So, I have developed my own opinion on what

Toronto, ON, Canada

Toronto is one of the most diverse cities in the world, and definitely one of the best cities, in my opinion. You don’t have to go anywhere else to see the rest of the world! This city has the largest population in Canada and it’s the capital on Ontario (1 of the 9 provinces and territories in Canada). But don’t be confused with the capital of Canada! The capital of Canada is actually Ottawa (also a beautiful city).

Sushi Blog

Sushi // 寿司 Sushi is probably the most popular Japanese food in the world. It is a VERY good dish and some countries even slightly changed it to match their culture! Eating sushi in Japan was a new experience. When I first came to this country, people complimented me on my ability to use chopsticks. I was kind of confused because I often went to sushi restaurants in Canada and it was normal to me. But, even though it is a very popular dish worldwide, many people in Japan are always surprised that people from other countries can use chopsticks. “Wow! You can use chopsticks!”, “上手!”, “You’re good at using
